🌞☀️ Getting tattooed in summer needs special care! 🌴🌊 When the sun is beating down, it is essential to protect and look after your tattoo properly. 🔥💉
🌈✨ Tattoos are works of art on your skin, and keeping their beauty and quality over time is essential. If you decide to get tattooed in summer, pay attention to this advice for the best care:
1️⃣ SUN PROTECTION: the sun can be one of the worst enemies of a fresh tattoo. UV rays can damage the pigment and fade the colours, even while it is healing. Always apply a broad-spectrum, high-factor sunscreen to your tattoo, even on cloudy days. Cover it with clothing or a hat when you are outdoors. Here are a few examples of sunscreens on the market you can use to protect your skin and your tattoos at this time of year.

*Balm Tattoo Sunblock SPF50: An ointment with a high concentration of Panthenol (5%) and Sepitonic M3, specifically for protecting and caring for healthy tattooed skin. Very high sun protection, SPF 50+ (real protection index 75+ according to studies). It moisturises and helps your skin regenerate, and helps keep old and new colours alive, stopping them oxidising and protecting them from harmful sun rays.

*Bepanthol Tattoo Sun Protection Cream: Bepanthol Tattoo is specifically designed to moisturise, care for and protect the skin, keeping tattoo colours alive.

*Ladival cream for tattooed skin: This sun cream is specially formulated to protect tattooed skin, laser-treated skin, micropigmentation and scars.
These are just examples: there is a huge range of products on the market. What matters is that they are always good quality and have a high SPF, which will give us longer exposure without damaging our skin and our tattoos.
2️⃣ AVOID DIRECT SUN: during the first few weeks of healing, keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight. Heat and radiation can slow healing and compromise the final quality of the design. Keep it covered or in the shade to protect it properly.
3️⃣ CONSTANT MOISTURISING: summer can dry the skin out because of the sun and heat. It is essential to keep your tattoo and the surrounding skin well moisturised. Regularly apply a cream or lotion recommended by your artist to stop the skin drying out and cracking, which could affect how the tattoo looks.
Here is also a selection of products to keep your skin healthy and cared for all year round, and especially in summer.

*Balm Tattoo colour maintenance lotion 250ml:
A light-textured, 100% vegan moisturising lotion for daily use (face & body), designed to protect and maintain the colour and definition of your tattoo. It looks after your tattoo all round, with antioxidant actives that protect the colour, an anti-pollution active, a 72+ hour hydration factor, thermal water and natural ingredients. Ingredients with clinical efficacy studies.

*Tattoo Revival Cream – Super Fruit Tattoo Food:
A tattoo lotion that nourishes the whole body and keeps your tattoos as fresh and vibrant as fruit. It combines the innovative ingredient Aquaxyl™ with fruit extracts and oils to bring out your ink and reduce the signs of tattoo fading, without harsh chemicals. 100% vegan and cruelty-free formula.

*Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment, 110 ml:
Soothes and protects extremely dry, irritated, cracked or damaged skin, even after superficial dermatological treatments (e.g. laser, peels, dermabrasion) or radiotherapy. It speeds up the skin's natural regeneration process and creates a protective barrier. The skin becomes visibly smoother. Suitable even for delicate baby skin.
4️⃣ AVOID SALT AND CHLORINATED WATER: sea water and swimming pools contain substances that can irritate and compromise the healing of a fresh tattoo. Do not submerge yourself in these waters until your tattoo has healed completely. Always rinse your tattoo thoroughly after swimming to remove any residue, and apply a moisturiser.
5️⃣ PROPER CARE AND CLEANING: follow the aftercare instructions from your artist to the letter. Clean your tattoo gently with warm water and mild soap, avoiding rubbing or scratching the area. Do not apply chemicals or exfoliants to the tattooed area while it is healing.
Remember, special care for your tattoo in summer is essential to preserve its appearance and quality long term. Do not skimp on sun protection and follow your artist's advice to make sure your work of art stays vibrant and beautiful. Enjoy the summer while looking after your tattoo responsibly! 🌞💪💉
We hope this helps if you decide to get tattooed in summer, and remember that if you have any more questions you can get in touch and we will be glad to advise you.
